Break out the trumpets: 🎺 The database overhaul is done! 🎺 Every finished audio fiction show in our directory-859 as of this newsletter edition-has now been moved to the new template. Now, much to the joy of all creators, there’s a single entry for each show with all the trimmings. Dead-simple listening links (with emphasis on those apps that do a better job for fiction podcasts). Clear(?) information on the status of the show, be it coming soon, slated for the future, or even crowdfunding links. And an easier-to-read(?) layout. Both Allie and I are tired now. That was a lot of work! But it was necessary work, as my goal is to make pages on The End the second-best place to get information about your favorite finished audio fiction show. (The best place is, or rather should be, the show’s website.)

And at least one person loves the new changes-Celeste! Thank you very much for becoming an Individual Supporter of The End. Your contribution helps us keep the lights on around here. And for the rest of you lot: it’s less than $25 for an entire year! So please consider supporting The End today.

Last note: My wife and I celebrated 35 years of blissful(?) marriage last Monday. I assume all of you who were drinking on that day were actually toasting to us and our next 35. Now if someone can just invent a Cymek body for us, because these meat suits are wearing out.

Let’s get into it, shall we?

Featured Recommendations

I’ve listened to every episode of these shows, and proudly recommend them to you. As with all things in life, YMMV.

The Love Talker • 🌲😱🪲 Dramatized folk horror tragedy series from W. Keith Tims, and Alien Ghost Robot & Celebrity Tumour. Loosely based on Irish and Appalachian folklore, we wanted to tell a monster story with very human characters; a supernatural tale about violence against women and those who keep it secret. The story unfolds through the shifting perspectives of the people involved. Full cast. A gripping tale brought to life via clever narrative devices and an exquisite soundtrack. And creepy, too! All episodes available as of 28 Feb 2024. Listen to all 10 episodes in 8h 02m.

Jump Leads • 🚀🤣🎭 Dramatized scifi comedy from Ben Paddon. Based on the webcomic of the same name. Great pacing and fun hijinx for kids of all ages. Give it a shot! All episodes of Season 1 available as of 31 May 2023. Listen to the 6 current episodes in 3h 26m. Next season: Unknown.

Subterranean Stories • Current title count in this collection: 18

Whether exploring caves, navigating a labyrinth, living in an underground city, or dealing with denizens of creatures beneath our feet, this collection features tales that take place, for the most part, below ground. Check your claustrophobia at the door, I guess?

Murder On The Audio Express • Current title count in this collection: 29

The classic murder mystery is popular in all forms, including audio fiction. Here’s a collection of stories where someone is already dead, and you have to solve it. Or not, because you know you’re going to find who in fact did do it in the final episode.
